The DC Experience is a program designed for college and university students (18 years+) who have an interest in gaining a direct experience, exposure and understanding of how the political machine of Washington, DC functions in relation to their degree program and future internship/employment options. Each session is led by Results International Founder/CEO Dr. Phoenix Mourning-Star, who has extensive experience in national and international governmental affairs, non-governmental activities, science, research and preparing students for careers through mentoring. Students will spend a week in Washington, DC to see what professional life in DC is really like.
During one intensive week, students will become part of a focused team of professionals advancing their interests on a series of topics based upon their self-designated teams in our science or social tracks.
Mornings will be spent in boardroom style interactive sessions developing personal brands, including: resumes, elevator pitches, memo writing, social-professional media image make-overs, preparing for interviews, job and internship applications and practicing presenting themselves in fast-paced, high pressure environments.
In the afternoons, participants will put their morning skills to the test on and around Capitol Hill at informational presentations, meetings and Q&A’s with lobbyists, Congressional Hearings, think-tanks, NGOs, government agencies, graduate admissions directors at DC area universities and after-work social events in the heart of the Nation’s Capitol. Applicants will get to meet with and discuss career options with professionals, managers and staff at the Environmental Protection, Department of Agriculture, Think Tanks and Senate and Congressional offices – apply here.

Some Quotes about our prior programs
“We heard from her more during this program than we have the whole time she’s been at college! This was by far the most excited we’ve heard her all year – she already wants to move to DC. This one week may have been worth as much as her entire college experience so far!”
– Parent of a student participant during airport pick-up.
“They’re amazing – these students are like ‘Environmental Avengers’! They give me hope for our future.”
– Dr. B. Jones; National Center for Environmental Research, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
“I’m in my senior year in political science. I thought I knew what politics and political science was – the meetings taught me so much more than books or lectures.”
– Past Student, 2014 Alum
“Intense! We all were tired every day – just out of it. Every day was full, fun and full. The best part was that we didn’t just listen to people ramble – we had interactive conversations. I made some really great contacts.”
– 2013 Alum
